Free Kaspersky virus scanner

Your Streaming Internet Radio toolbar now comes packaged with the excellent Kaspersky virus scanner. The scanner doesn’t actually remove anything found on your computer, but it does carry out a thorough scan and will inform you if you have a problem.

You may already have anti-virus software installed on your PC, but sometimes one anti-virus package can miss what another will discover. The free Kaspersky virus scanner on your toolbar is offered as additional security for Streaming Internet Radio toolbar users.

To launch the Kaspersky virus scanner from your toolbar, click Menu > SOFTWARE / SECURITY > Kaspersky virus scanner

After scanning your computer with the Streaming Internet Radio toolbar Kaspersky virus scanner, should you be unlucky enough to have found your system infected, Kaspersky offer free virus removal tools.

If you don’t have anti virus software installed on your system, you can download free software via your toolbar – I recommend Avast anti virus.

The Streaming Internet Radio toolbar can be downloaded from: http://streaminginternetradio.myradiotoolbar.com/

Installation and first update
When you click the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 button to download the program from its page at the Kaspersky Lab website, the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window opens in a new Web browser window. Note that to run Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 in Microsoft Windows Vista, you need to start the Web browser using the Run as Administrator command.

To begin using Kaspersky scanner
If you don't have Sun Java installed on your computer, you need to install Java to run Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 – a message will appear. Click OK to close the message, and then click Download and install Java from java.com link in the left part of the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window to go to java.com. Select the Java file for your operating system, and download and install it. Then click the Refresh button in the Kaspersky scanner window to update it. In the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window, read the terms of the program usage in the Information section, and click the Accept button to accept them.

Kaspersky online scanner will download and install its components and then its database of malware definitions. The operation may take several minutes. During this time you can continue work in another Web browser window. When the installation is complete, you can scan your computer. Note: The program files and database are saved in the system's current temporary directory.

Starting a scan
You can check one of the pre-defined areas on your computer, or you can check a selected disk, folder or file. The scan starts automatically as soon as you select a scan area. To start a scan, click an area to scan within the Scan section in the left part of the program window. After the scan is complete, you can view information about infected and suspicious files detected during the scan in the scan report. Lines that display information about infected files are marked red; lines that display information about suspicious files are marked yellow.

To save the scan report
In the left part of the Kaspersky scanner window, click Scan Report to open the Scan Report section. Click the Save Report As button, and in the Browse dialog box, type a name for the scan report file that you want to create and select its type (Text file or Web page). Click OK to save the file.

Uninstalling the Kaspersky scanner
The program files and database are saved in the system's current temporary directory. You need not manually remove them.
